Jim Pattison Group acquires Guinness World Records

On February 15, 2008, The Jim Pattison Group announced that its subsidiary, Jim Pattison Entertainment Ltd., had acquired Guinness World Records from HIT Entertainment. Details of the sale were not made public.
The Jim Pattison Group is Canada's third largest private company with assets of over $6.3 billion and is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Its holdings include Ripley Entertainment Inc. which has held the global rights to develop and operate Guinness World Records museums and attractions for over a decade. HIT Entertainment, owned by private equity investment group Apax Partners, is one of the world's leading independent children's entertainment producers and rights-owners.
Jim Pattison Entertainment was advised in this acquisition by a team from Fasken Martineau Stringer Saul led by June Paddock and that included, among others, Paul Yerbury, Allistair Booth, Stuart Richards, Peter Rhodes, Mario Subramaniam and Steve Lukas.
