National network of patent agents now within reach: Philip Swain joins Technology and Intellectual Property Practice Group

Claude Auger, managing partner of law firm Fasken Martineau’s Montréal and Québec City offices, is pleased to announce the arrival of associate Philip Swain as patent agent.
“Having Philip Swain on board will enrich our national network of patent agents and allow us to complete the services offered here at Fasken Martineau in an area that is becoming increasingly important to businesses,” commented Claude Auger.
Mr. Swain has developed solid expertise in intellectual property protection strategies in the industry sectors of chemistry, biochemistry and mechanical devices. He also has extensive experience drafting opinions on patentability, validity, open source and infringement, and an in-depth knowledge of science acquired while working with universities and pharmaceutical businesses. He is registered as a patent agent in both Canada and the United States.
Mr. Swain holds a bachelor of science with a double specialization in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Salford in England, and a doctoral degree in organic synthetic chemistry from the same university.
