Cal Johnson Q.C.

Cal Johnson is a partner of the firm whose practice involves a broad spectrum of regulatory and energy issues. Cal regularly acts on behalf of clients before regulatory and administrative tribunals. He has experience in litigation and arbitration proceedings in the natural resource and energy areas, and a wide variety of other corporate and commercial disputes. Cal has negotiated and drafted contracts relating to the sale of electric power, electric transmission rights, coordination of generation and transmission facilities, and relating to all aspects of the natural gas business.

Cal has a wide and very thorough knowledge of the electric and natural gas industries in British Columbia in particular, and across Canada and in the Pacific Northwest more generally. He regularly provides legal advice to a major British Columbia industrial producer of power in all aspects of its electric operations and acts for the largest distributor of natural gas in the province in regulatory, litigation and alternate dispute resolution proceedings. Cal acts for the provincially owned insurer that provides compulsory automobile insurance coverage in its regulatory proceedings. He has been involved in most of the regulatory proceedings in British Columbia in the last 25 years, acting for both applicants and intervenors, and has acted as commission counsel.
