Under the proposed Canada Consumer Product Safety Act and the corresponding amendments to the Food and Drugs Act, Canadian businesses will risk significant financial penalties if they fail to comply with the new consumer product safety regime once it is implemented. First tabled in the House of Commons in April of 2008, Bill C-52 was referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health for further consideration following its second reading on May 1, 2008.
