The Competition Bureau’s Draft Corporate Compliance Programs Bulletin
Antitrust/Competition & Marketing Bulletin
July 2008
The Competition Bureau has released its draft Corporate Compliance Programs Bulletin, which expands upon its previous bulletin released in 1997. As many businesses appreciate, a credible and effective corporate compliance program can promote adherence to competition laws, aid in the early detection of contraventions, and may be considered a mitigating factor by the Bureau or a court when assessing remedies in the event of a breach of the Competition Act. Our bulletin highlights the notable changes proposed in the draft Corporate Compliance Programs Bulletin that businesses should be aware of and identifies some concerns raised during the public consultation process that followed its release.
