The communications sector is fast-moving and fascinating, and hardly a day goes by without stories appearing in the national media concerning regulatory developments pertaining to the sector. Fasken Martineau's Communications Law Group is front and centre on these issues. Three members of our national practice group, Laurence Dunbar and Stephen Whitehead of our Ottawa office and Barbara Miller of our Toronto office, will participate in a seminar that will explain the background to these stories, including a primer on communications regulation and the role of different regulatory authorities in Canada. Recent and current topics of interest will be reviewed, with specific attention given to issues relating to foreign ownership restrictions that apply in the communications sector.

This seminar will be of interest not only to participants in the communications industries, but also to anyone who wishes to have a better understanding of the regulatory environment in which such industries operate, and of the context in which high-profile public campaigns such as "Stop the TV Tax" and "Local TV Matters" occur.
