David is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, primarily practicing in the area of energy and utilities regulation, acting as counsel to participants in the electricity and oil and gas industries in Alberta and British Columbia.

This practice involves assisting utilities, electricity market participants and other energy companies in a broad range of matters before regulatory authorities and the courts. These matters include the permitting of energy infrastructure and the associated land use and environmental approvals required. David also acts for electric utilities and other market participants in tariff related, market compliance and market rules proceedings related to the Alberta and British Columbia electricity industries. David’s energy and utilities practice sees him regularly appear before the Alberta Utilities Commission, the British Columbia Utilities Commission, the National Energy Board as well as acting for clients with respect to matters before various environmental regulators in Alberta and British Columbia.

In addition to his energy and utilities practice, David also practices construction litigation. His clients include owners, developers, general contractors, and suppliers. David regularly advises clients on a wide range of construction matters, including tendering disputes, builders liens, construction contract disputes, delay claims, bond claims, residential construction disputes, and construction related tort claims.

David has appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta.
