Edward Purdy practises litigation/research law, identifying and analyzing legal issues that arise in the context of complex corporate transactions and commercial litigation. He brings an interactive, proactive and practical approach to his mandates and is committed to finding efficient solutions to difficult legal issues.
Edward has directed or assisted in the design and implementation of a wide range of transactions. He has furnished definitive legal advice in connection with numerous take-over bids, major asset and share acquisitions, securitizations, financings, securities transactions and corporate restructurings and bankruptcies. Edward has also played a critical role in complex commercial litigation, including oppression and other shareholder remedy litigation, valuation litigation in connection with dissent rights and going-private transactions, and litigation involving insolvency proceedings and other forms of corporate reorganization. He has been retained by counsel in the U.K. and the United States to provide legal advice with respect to Canadian law on a wide range of issues.
Edward joined the firm in 1986 and became a partner in 1988. He is director of the Toronto office's Research practice group.
