Transparency and accountability of hospital operations have been the subject of recent media coverage. Their activities have also undergone examination by both federal and provincial quality councils, been the subject of targeted reviews by the Provincial Auditor General, and been the impetus for a number of key legislative initiatives.

"Through the Looking Glass - The Next Frontier of Accountability and Transparency in Health Care" promises to be an informative event featuring dynamic perspectives on transparency and accountability in a publicly-funded health care system. Sessions will provide insight into responsibly serving Ontario's patients, expectations and obligations of a hospital in a public system, and what is emerging on Ontario's health care horizon.

Partner Guy W. Giorno, national leader of our Government Relations and Ethics practice, will be among a high calibre list of speakers at this ground-breaking and exciting special conference, organized by the Ontario Hospital Association.

Guy will join a high-powered panel in a debate entitled "The Future of Health Care in Ontario - Where should we be going?" The provocative debate promises to be a highlight of the agenda, and will offer different perspectives on the conference theme. What are a hospital's obligations for accountability and transparency? How should a hospital reach out into the community to demonstrate accountability and transparency?

The conference will take place Monday, October 15, at the Radisson Admiral Hotel - Toronto Harbourfront, 249 Queen's Quay West.
