The firm stands out in a field of more than 500 law firms serving the Fortune 1000 Companies in North America

Fasken Martineau has been highly ranked on the BTI Consulting Survey of Client Service Performance for Law Firms. BTI Consulting is the leading provider of market research to law firms in the United States. This survey indicates we ranked better than a lot of American firms, plus all Canadian firms.

Each year, for the past seven years, BTI has conducted more than 250 exhaustive interviews with corporate counsel at large and Fortune 1000 companies. The survey results specify how clients define outstanding client service and which law firms deliver it. The client, the most important judge of client service, decides which law firms are best. Being nominated as one of the best law firms in more than one category is an outstanding achievement. We were recognized in six.

BTI sets out 17 criteria that define and determine the success of a client relationship. Among these 17 items are basic legal skills, client focus, anticipating client needs, providing value for the dollar and commitment to help. As many as 250 Corporate Counsel, then, identified the best firms in each of these areas. BTI compiled the results based on the frequency of unprompted responses.

Client relationships define both financial performance and long-term success for a law firm. This survey is the only client service ranking based solely on unprompted client response during in-depth interviews. Clients mention Fasken Martineau—by name—for delivering superior client service. We stand out in a field of more than 500 law firms serving the Fortune 1000 Companies in North America.

Only four Canadian law firms were mentioned in the survey and our firm ranked the most frequently. Clients most often recognized our excellence in the following six areas:

    (1) Understanding the Client's Business
    (2) Breadth of Services
    (3) Target Clients' Top Priorities (Advice on Business Issues)
    (4) Unprompted Communications
    (5) Bringing together National Resources
    (6) Anticipating the Client's Needs

The fact that our firm is ranked in this US-based survey is a testament to our extraordinary client focus. This recognition as Canada's pre-eminent law firm is outstanding.
