Fasken Martineau is pleased to announce that Jim Peterson was appointed by the Ontario government as Chief Negotiator to represent the province in trade negotiations with Québec.

Jim was appointed by Sandra Pupatello, Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Trade to negotiate an agreement that will enhance the relationship between Ontario and Québec to strengthen both economies and encourage mutual prosperity.

The appointment follows the November 26 meeting between Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Québec Premier Jean Charest during which a joint declaration was signed to begin negotiating an agreement to bolster the Ontario-Québec economic region, notably by eliminating barriers to labour mobility, increase inter-provincial investment and facilitate trade between provinces.

Raymond Bachand, Québec Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade appointed Michel Audet as the Chief Negotiator representing Québec.
