Trish Janzen, a lawyer with extensive human rights experience, and Dr. Ray Baker, a physician who specializes in the treatment of patients with addictions, collaborate to present best practices for responding to employees with addictions from a legal and a medical perspective. This interactive workshop will provide information on the following topics of interest:

  • The scope of the duty to accommodate employees with alcohol and drug addictions
  • How can you reconcile safety obligations with the duty to accommodate? When is a safety concern undue hardship?
  • What are the employee's obligations? When must employees participate in addiction monitoring programs and rehabilitation testing?
  • What do the experts say about dealing with denial and addiction?
  • When enough is enough? When is a last chance really a last chance?

Cost: $350 ($367.50 including GST). Payment must be made in advance by credit card or cheque (Payable to: Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP).

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

Anyone who provides cancellation notice to us at least five (5) business days in advance of the scheduled date of the workshop will receive a fee refund less 10% administration fee. No refund will be provided to a registrant who cancels with less than five (5) business days' advance notice.

Registrants are entitled to send a substitute; advance notice is required.
