On March 22, 2002, Autogrill SpA completed a major expansion into Canada by the acquisition from Lettuce Serview of 18 motorway travel centres along two major controlled access highways in Ontario, Highway 401 and 400, including 56 food and beverage outlets and four retail locations. In a related transaction, Autogrill SpA has also acquired 18 food and beverage outlets at Canada's largest airport, Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto. The combined sales of these outlets exceed $80 million annually.
Autogrill SpA, the world's largest provider of food, beverage and retail concessions in the travel industry, is also the world's largest operator of highway rest area and airport restaurants.
Both Autogrill SpA and Lettuce Serview looked to Jon Levin and Claudia Feldkamp of the Toronto office of Fasken Martineau to complete the transaction.
