Claude Auger was Managing Partner for the Québec region (Montréal and Québec City) from 2003 to 2012, during which time he also sat on Fasken Martineau's National Executive Committee. In addition, he was a member of the Fasken Martineau Board of Directors from 2000 to 2012.
Claude specializes in tax law and has developed an expertise in the areas of corporate financing, financial instruments, the purchase and sale of businesses, corporate restructuring, as well as mergers and liquidations. His experience is regularly sought on major files involving large public issues of securities on behalf of financial institutions, the establishment of complex financial structures and the restructuring of major national and international public and private corporations. As part of his practice, he has also been called upon to represent clients before the Agence du revenu du Québec and the Canada Revenue Agency, and some of his interventions have led to legislative and regulatory amendments.
Claude has been recognized as a Leading Practitioner and rated "Repeatedly Recommended" for the category of corporate tax in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory. He was also recognized as one of Canada's best Tax Law lawyers in The Best Lawyers in Canada (2008-2012 editions).
