David Turgeon, Ph.D.

Associate | Patent Agent

A doctor in physiology-endocrinology, David Turgeon is also a lawyer and patent agent with the national Technology and Intellectual Property Practice Group. He counsels and represents a range of clients, mainly in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life sciences.

David Turgeon brings an extensive background in science to his practice. Holder of a Bachelor in Microbiology from Université Laval's sciences and engineering faculty, as well as a Master and Doctorate in Physiology-Endocrinology from Université Laval's medical faculty, Mtre Turgeon has published several scientific papers and received many awards, including the Fondation de l'Université Laval's proficiency scholarship and a study grant from the Fonds de la Recherche en Santé du Québec (FRSQ).

As part of his practice, Mtre Turgeon helps his clients develop intellectual property protection strategies, manage intellectual property portfolios, prepare patentability and use availability analyses, draft and prosecute patent applications and prepare patent infringement analyses. His expertise is also put to use in intellectual property and commercial transaction disputes where intellectual property plays a crucial role.

His technical training and experience allow him to offer his clients leading-edge expertise in such areas as microbiology, infectious diseases, environmental microbiology, molecular biology, tissue culture, molecular diagnostic tests, endocrinology and oncology.
