Simoneau v. Renaud, 2009 QCCS 1058

Mtre Leblanc-Gagnon successfully demonstrated that solicitor-client provilege protects clients with respect to documents over which they have not waived confidentiality.

Generally, the detailed legal bill that a lawyer gives a client is protected by solicitor-client privilege. As the beneficiary of this privilege, the client is the party who can waive it. In this case, Mr. Renaud and Ms. Goulet, both represented by Mtre Leblanc-Gagnon, were entitled to maintain their solicitor-client privilege protection that they had not waived.
