Diebold acquires Global Election Systems

On January 22, 2001, Diebold, Incorporated acquired by way of statutory arrangement all of the issued and outstanding shares of Global Election Systems Inc., a B.C. company that manufactures and distributes computerized, electronic election management systems.

Diebold retained Fasken Martineau to work with its U.S. counsel, to close this transaction, valued at approximately US$20 million. Lata Casciano, Lynn Charbonneau and Melody Schalm from Fasken Martineau's Vancouver office worked under the direction of Warren Dettinger, Diebold's Vice President and General Counsel.

Diebold develops, manufactures, sells and services self-service transaction, security and bank systems for global financial and commercial markets.
