Donald M. Dalik

Don Dalik has significant experience in domestic and international business investments and capital projects in a range of key industry sectors. His practice primarily involves mergers and acquisitions; corporate transactions; infrastructure projects; public-private partnerships and alternate service delivery agreements; and corporate structure, joint venture and reorganization activities to implement the investment and business operations. In undertaking such investment transactions, planning and co-ordination with financial, structured finance, tax, anti-trust, and regulatory advisors is often a key part of successful implementation of projects. In M&A and other projects, Don often has primary responsibility for strategic planning, negotiations and overall coordination of the working group, and is the primary liaison with clients and other key participants in the transaction.

Don has represented interests of both industry and government and regulatory bodies, and has developed a strong understanding of the necessary interaction and requirements of each such party in major business undertakings.

In industry, key sectors of involvement include Forestry, Mining (coal and metallurgical), Communications, Banking and Financial Institutions, Transportation (including ports and harbours, and international airlines), Tourism and Hospitality, Automobile and Manufacturing, and major Real Estate projects. Significant work has also been undertaken in new and emerging industries such as Aerospace and Satellites, Market Research and Video Game development, among others. 

In representing Government, Don has advised Federal, Provincial and Municipal agencies on joint venture undertakings, such as Canada Place, Vancouver; regulatory overview of major project sites such as False Creek North, and Coal Harbour, Vancouver; structured lease and management facilities for key assets; rapid transit; hospital and museum projects; port and terminal development and operations; and rail infrastructure facilities.

Clients have included both private and publicly traded corporate enterprises from the USA, England, Norway, Finland, France, Spain, China, Hong Kong, Japan and elsewhere.

Don has attained a BV rating ("high to very high legal ability") by the Martindale-Hubbell legal rating service.
