Edmond Luke, partner, is a member of the firm's Asia Pacific Group. As a member, Edmond provides legal services to Canadian and Asian institutional clients in several key industries including real estate investment and development, global mining, financial institutions, securities, mergers and acquisitions, energy and environmental. Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Taiwanese and traveling regularly to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and Seoul, Edmond is highly effective in assisting with the bridging of diversities between western and Asian business cultures.
Edmond's practice primarily involves investments and business transactions with a special focus internationally on inbound Canada-Asia transpacific related activities and domestically on real estate development in Canada. His Canada-Asia transpacific experience includes the listing of Asian businesses on the TSX, structuring of foreign direct investment in China and in Canada, and business investments and acquisitions in Canada by foreign investors. His real estate development experience includes reviewing and approving commercial and residential development projects as the municipal solicitor for local governments; structuring government financed housing projects; assisting institutional landowners from railway companies to developers and to religious organizations with obtaining rezoning, subdivision and other development approvals; working with complex legal real estate interests including air space parcels, leasehold subdivisions, conventional, mixed use and phased strata developments, easements, restrictive covenants, building schemes and statutory rights of way.
