Elmer Atté is a law clerk in the firm's Litigation Department. He is engaged primarily in complex litigation matters. Elmer's particular expertise is in anti-counterfeiting investigation and enforcement, in intellectual property litigation before the Federal Court of Canada and in appeals to the Tax Court of Canada. He has exceptional skills in statutory and regulatory interpretation, legal research, writing and training.
His prior experience includes 15 years in the federal public service in Ottawa in various capacities, 11 of which were spent as a Registrar with the Federal Court of Appeal, including 2 years as Registrar to the Chief Justice of the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada. He specialized in the judicial review process, dealing extensively with federal agencies, boards, commissions and tribunals, litigants, and stakeholders from community groups to government at all levels. Elmer was also frequently called upon to provide case briefings to individual Justices of the Court.
Elmer is a member of the Canadian Association of Paralegals.
