London (UK) - Fasken Martineau, a leading international law firm, is proud to be sponsoring the second Québec Annual Lecture, "An Evening in Space with Julie Payette," taking place on Thursday 27 October at the Science Museum, London.
The Québec Annual Lecture, organised by the Québec Government Office in London, is an annual event introducing the excellence and creativity demonstrated by remarkable Quebeckers who have contributed significantly by their accomplishments to the advancement of various fields of human activity, on an international scale. The keynote speaker for the evening, Canadian Astronaut Julie Payette, will be speaking on "Research and Diplomacy 350km above the Earth. An Astronaut's Perspective." This will be followed by a projection of the film "Space Station 3D."
Julie Payette is a Canadian engineer, a pilot, and a Canadian Space Agency Astronaut. Ms. Payette has flown on two space shuttle missions – in 1999 and again in 2009 and in total has logged more than 1,300 hours in space. She serves as Chief Astronaut for the CSA, and has served in other roles for both NASA and CSA, such as CAPCOM for the STS-121 mission.
