Toronto (Canada) Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, announced today that the Honourable James S. Peterson, P.C., has been appointed Co-Chair of the Canada/US Law Institute (CUSLI). The CUSLI serves as a forum for governments, business leaders, scholars and others to examine and resolve the issues confronting the Canada-United States relationship.

I have devoted my career in law and public service to building greater presence for Canada on the world stage and to strengthening our relationships with our trading partners. The CUSLI is an ideal forum for me to continue this work," said Jim Peterson, Counsel with Fasken Martineau.

Jim previously served in the Government of Canada as Minister of International Trade, Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions), and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance. He is the author of numerous articles and studies for Canadian and foreign publications on international business, investment, taxation and fiscal policy.

James J. Blanchard is the other Co-Chair of the Canada/US Law Institute. He is a former governor of Michigan and former United States ambassador to Canada. Currently, he is a partner with DLA Piper and Co Chair of its Government Affairs Practice Group.
