John C.H. Kim

Partner

John Kim is a partner who advises clients in the energy, mining and natural resources sectors. He specialises in corporate structuring, commercial transactions and M&A work. He is also an experienced practitioner in real estate-related transactions.

John's practice has a particular focus on business initiatives in and from the Asia Pacific region. John has specific expertise assisting major Korean and Japanese businesses invest, and establish operations, in Canada. As well, he assists Canadian and other foreign companies and organizations in their business dealings with Korean and Japanese business concerns.

John was seconded to the Japanese law firm of Anderson Mori & Tomotsune in Tokyo throughout 2007. There, he advised on cross-border, M&A and real estate transactions for investment funds and various clients in the financial services sector, including commercial and investment banks.

Prior to joining the firm, John was a vice president at Hyundai Securities in Seoul, Korea. As VP, John worked on various investments, acquisitions and financing transactions with global financial institutions, large Korean conglomerates and major players in the energy, technology and mining industries.

John's international experience has provided him with a worldly business perspective and intuition. As a result, his clients benefit from carefully considered advice in relation to the global marketplace.
