Kevin Clinton is a partner in the Business Law section in the firm's Toronto office. He is engaged in a diverse corporate/commercial practice and is an active member of several practice groups, including Securities and Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, Renewable Energy and Infrastructure and Public-Private Partnerships. Kevin has extensive experience in the acquisition and divestiture of private companies, amalgamations, corporate reorganizations, secured lending and the establishment and operation of partnerships. He also has experience acting for lenders in infrastructure project finance transactions.
In recent years a significant portion of Kevin's practice has focused on energy law. Kevin recently advised a U.S. electricity generating company on the acquisition of one of Canada's largest independent wind farm developers. In addition, Kevin advised International Power plc, a U.K. electricity generating company, on Canadian aspects of its combination with GDF SUEZ's Energy International Business Areas (outside Europe). The combined business creates a global leader in independent power generation with over 66,000 MW of gross capacity in operation and committed projects expected to deliver 22,000 MW of gross capacity by 2013.
Kevin also has experience with solar energy projects and advises a U.S. aggregator of solar installations on the development of solar rooftop energy projects under the Ontario Power Authority's Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program.
From 2004 to 2006 Kevin was based in the firm's London, England office where he gained valuable experience in secured lending transactions.
Kevin is actively engaged in Fasken's international business development initiatives and is a member of the firm's Asia Pacific Practice Group. He has participated in several business development trips to India.
