Hannah Roskey is an associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group. She has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, and has participated in arbitrations, mediations, and proceedings before several federal and provincial regulatory tribunals, including the Alberta Utilities Commission, the British Columbia Utilities Commission, the British Columbia Oil & Gas Commission, and the National Energy Board.
A significant portion of Hannah’s practice encompasses the areas of energy and utilities regulation, which involves assisting utilities, electricity market participants, and other energy companies before regulatory authorities and the courts. Hannah has experience in all stages of project development, including drafting applications, coordinating engagement with First Nations and other stakeholders, liaising with experts in various disciplines, and assisting in appeals and review and variance applications. Shortly after her call to the bar, Hannah completed a secondment to the regulatory department of a large Alberta electrical utility. This provided her with valuable insight into the business needs of her clients, and an ability to provide practical advice.
Hannah's commercial litigation practice has focused on providing advice and representation on a broad range of commercial disputes, with particular emphasis on energy industry matters, employment disputes, and breach of contract claims. Hannah also practices in the area of corporate social responsibility law. In conjunction with senior counsel, she helps clients to develop and manage proactive corporate social responsibility strategies to respond to stakeholder concerns.
Hannah attended law school at the University of Calgary and, upon graduation, received the Dean Michael Wylie Social Responsibility Award for contributions to social and human rights issues in the community.
