Lisa Abe is consistently recognized across Canada and the USA as a leading authority on business structuring, commercial agreements, sales and marketing, mergers and acquisitions, with their relationship and implications to Technology, Intellectual Property and the law. As a senior partner in Fasken Martineau's Technology and Intellectual Property practice groups, Lisa has significant experience leading and directing businesses to achieve positive outcomes, which have influenced the bottom line and strategic goals of her clients. Of note, Lisa represents Air Canada, Bank of Montreal, Citrix Systems Inc., EnStream (Rogers, Bell, Telus co-venture) and Ontario Power Generation among others who trust her personable, forthright manner, and levels of detail and knowledge to deliver results and innovation. Her work with cross-border counsel and companies on matters related to their Canadian operations and subtleties in the law, have led to significant gains in contract negotiations, policy reviews, employment matters and government procurements previously gone unnoted.
Lisa's work with companies looking at innovation as a hallmark of their business and operations, have resulted in her advising on matters involving: technology assets, manufacturing, growth, copyright, product development, retail, acquisitions, import/export, e-commerce, mobile money transfer systems, IT outsourcing, financial institutions, insurance companies, communications, banking, corporate governance, regulatory, patents and sales. Each year, Lisa is asked to speak at forums and conferences both domestically and overseas regarding her viewpoint on what will be effecting the changing rules of law relating to her experience and ongoing research. This research and experience fostered the widely referenced book IT and Ecommerce Agreements - Drafting and Negotiating Tips, 2nd Edition, and the co-authored Web Law - Agreements, Guidelines and Use Policies along with recognition from Lexpert Directory (since 2005) and Martindale-Hubbell. She is currently writing the 3rd Edition of her book.
