Paul Martin has been counsel to a number of major Canadian automobile insurers in multijurisdictional class actions in respect of allegations of improper retention of salvage and the charging of dedcutibles in total loss accident scenarios. In that regard, Paul was one of the lead counsel in the appeal that caused the Ontario Court of Appeal to reverse one of its earlier decisions that had found against the automobile insurance industry. As a consequence, more than two dozen class actions were favourably resolved on behalf of the automobile insurance industry.
