Air India Inquiry: Fasken Martineau lawyers act in high-profile public inquiry

Ottawa (Canada) Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, announced today that two of its litigation lawyers acted in the Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182.
Marisa Victor, an associate in the firm's Ottawa office, acted as legal counsel to The Honourable John C. Major, C.C., Q.C.

Marisa's practice focuses on public law and related litigation primarily involving agricultural, communications and government clients. She joined Fasken Martineau in 2009 after acting as legal counsel to Commissioner Major for three years giving her unique insights into Canada's national security and intelligence systems.
Peter Downard, a partner in the firm's Toronto office, acted for the intervener the Federation of Canadian Law Societies. Justice Major accepted his submissions which focused on the use of special advocates in national security litigation.
The Inquiry's final report was released on June 17, 2010. This month marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist bombing that killed 329 passengers and crew members.
