On January 3, 2008, Natcan Investment Management Inc. ("Natcan"), a National Bank of Canada subsidiary, reached a sub-management agreement with Selexia Investment Management Inc. ("Selexia"), a company indirectly owned by portfolio managers Jacques Chartrand, Claude Boulos and Benoît Brillon. The agreement mandates Selexia to manage $4.5 billion held in large-cap institutional portfolios belonging to Natcan's clientele. As part of the transaction, Selexia executed a services agreement with Natcan under which Selexia outsourced maintenance of its internal books and accounting records, internal control and compliance to Natcan.
Natcan was represented by a team from Fasken Martineau that included Marc Beauchemin (financial institutions and services), Patricia Gagnon (corporate/commercial law), Pierre-Yves Châtillon and Catherine Isabelle (securities and regulation), and Serge Gloutnay (taxation), who all worked in tandem with Mtre Julia Mercier, legal counsel to the National Bank of Canada's corporate secretary service.
