Novartis AG acquires Sabex Inc. for US$565 million

On August 13, 2004, the Novartis AG subsidiary Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada Inc. acquired all of Sabex Inc.'s shares for the consideration of $500 million in cash.

Sabex Inc. is a distributor and Canadian manufacturer of injectable generic pharmaceutical products for the hospital and retail markets.
