On August 11, 2011, the Ontario Hospital Association released its Hospital Freedom of Information (FOI) Toolkit: A Guide to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The Toolkit has been developed to help hospitals prepare for the extension of Ontario's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act ("FIPPA"), effective January 1, 2012. It provides a comprehensive overview of hospitals' obligations under the legislation; advice on how to implement FIPPA's requirements; practical examples; tips and suggestions for administering FIPPA; and appendices containing templates, forms and other resources.
Fasken Martineau served as lead author of the toolkit; OHA collaborated with a team of Fasken Martineau lawyers, comprised of Lynne Golding, Guy Giorno, Daniel Fabiano, Alex Cameron and Laurie Turner, who worked with OHA to write and design the toolkit.
