Philip Kornbluth

Partner

Philip Kornbluth is a Partner at Fasken Martineau LLP and is a member of the Energy and Project Finance practice groups.

He has specialised in international trade (with a particular emphasis on crude oil and oil products, but including metals and soft commodities) and their finance for over 20 years and handles substantial transactions involving, inter alia, South America, Africa, South-East Asia, Russia/CIS and Europe.

Philip has extensive experience in commercial contracts (including spot and term contracts for crude oil and oil products and related issues), pre-export finance, syndicated loans, payment instruments, discounting of receivables (with and without recourse), risk participation and mitigation, banking documentation and joint ventures. His practice includes drafting and negotiating insurance policies for credit risk, contract frustration and political risk, including their interaction with bank finance/risk cover.

He acts on a regular basis for one of the world's largest traders of oil and other commodities, as well as for banks and other businesses active in his areas of expertise.

Philip's approach involves the recognition that understanding the client's business and needs in depth is often the key to providing an effective and valuable long term contribution to its success.

Philip is highly recommended in the Commodities section of Legal 500's "Legal Experts 2011" report.
