Changes to Canada's Lobbyists Registration Act (the "Act") and the regulations to the Act came into force June 20, 2005. These changes greatly impact how Canadian companies andassociations report their lobbying activities. The amended Act applies to all persons who lobby the federal government of Canada, whether for the benefit of their own organization or for the benefit of their customers and clients. Canadian organizations that retain consultant lobbyists or employ in-house lobbyists to deal with the Government of Canada need to be aware of these amendments.
