Political developments in Canada, United States, cast cloud over crossborder trade in prescription drugs Until the last few months of 2004, it appeared that the growth of so-called Internet pharmacy — basically, the importation of prescription drugs into the United States from Canada, often by way of on-line purchases from Canadian pharmacies — would continue unabated. However, significant political changes in both Canada and the United States in the last two months of the past year suggest that growth in this field may soon abate.
