  • Granville Island Hotel v. Rayman Investments, BCCA, May 22, 1996

Acted for the plaintiff in an action in which a contract for the purchase of the Granville Island Hotel was ordered to be specifically performed.

Counsel for the Plaintiff who obtained judgment for double the value of properly alleged to have been fraudulently removed from the premises leased from the plaintiff pursuant to s.13 of the Rent Distress Act. Leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada was dismissed.

Counsel for the Defendant in an action for damages for trespass to assets during an alleged wrongful distraint. The claim was dismissed pursuant to a summary trial application.

Counsel for the Defendant in a claim seeking rescission of a contract of purchase and sale for a $4.4 million home bought by the Plaintiff, or damages in the alternative, on the basis of allegations that the Defendant concealed water moisture in a crawl space. The Honourable Madam Justice S. Griffin of the Supreme Court of British Columbia dismissed the claim. The case was commented on at Stockwatch.com.
