Richard Cliff is a Partner at Fasken Martineau LLP and is a member of the Corporate / Commercial, Global Energy, Global Mining and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practice groups.
Richard is a highly experienced lawyer, who has advised on and project managed a broad range of corporate, in particular cross-border, transactions. He has acted for public and private companies of all sizes, both national and international, as well as a number of leading global investment banks, private equity sponsors, government bodies and other organisations. His practice includes IPOs (both Official List and AIM) and other securities transactions, public and private M&A, private equity, joint ventures and private fund-raisings.
Richard has a particular focus on the oil and gas sector, where he has extensive transactional experience, acting for both international oil companies and independent E&P companies. Recent experience has included acting on both asset and corporate acquisitions in the sector (both upstream and downstream), advising on PSA and JOA issues and advising on cross-border pipeline and transportation projects. He has led transactions in the UK, Western Europe, CEE, Russia, Africa and the CIS.
Before joining Fasken Martineau, Richard was a partner in both a leading international UK and a leading international US firm. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and has lectured on the LLM/EMBA course at the University of Muenster-Westfalen in Germany.
