Steve Blimkie's practice is focused in the areas of commercial property law, development and related financing. His areas of specialization include contract drafting, joint venture arrangements, property acquisitions and dispositions, leasing (both landlords and tenants), infrastructure/"P3"/mining issues, and secured lending. Steve has provided advice to underwriters, issuers and developers in respect of real estate investment trusts, mortgage backed securities offerings, securitizations and development of resource/energy properties.
Steve is currently engaged on a number of challenging projects, including several industrial, manufacturing and condominium developments in and around Toronto, the sale/development/leasing of portfolios consisting of hundreds of commercial properties across Canada, and major expansions of several mining properties in northern Ontario. Steve provides advice on resource development, mineral tenures and also property issues relating to water and waterways, and recently completed the real estate and development work in connection with Canada's largest co-generation facility. Steve has been engaged on projects by several of Canada's largest commercial real estate landlords, developers and pension funds.
Steve joined Fasken Martineau as a partner in February, 2003.
