Bill C-36 – The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA) — was introduced in the House of Commons on June 9, 2010. The CCPSA will revolutionize the regulatory regime for consumer products in Canada. The changes for manufacturers, importers and sellers of consumer products in Canada — including new mandatory reporting to Health Canada, Health Canada-ordered product recalls, Health Canada-implemented recalls at manufacturers' expense, and potential impact on class actions — will be dramatic and wide-ranging.
-
