On December 31, 2007, Yamana Gold Inc. successfully completed its acquisition of the common shares of Meridian Gold Inc. for a purchase price of about US$3.3 billion.
Yamana helped fund the cash portion of the purchase with $700 million credit facilities arranged by The Bank of Nova Scotia and ABN Amro Bank NV. The lenders were advised by a team from Fasken Martineau that included John Torrey, Thomas Meagher and Aaron Stefan.
