Jambo Bibi!
(Jambo means hello in Swahili)
I'm currently in Tanzania, reaching the end of the safari portion of the trip. We visited a Masai Mara village, saw the "Big 5" (and then some!) in the Serengeti, and will soon be visiting Mt. Kilimanjaro! Hope you're having a wonderful summer and Alex and I will be sure to fill you in when we're back in September. Talk to you soon.

I'm in Bali this week – actually, I'm taking a boat to Lombok for a 4 day trek around Mt. Rinjani, an active volcano. Leah Plumridge convinced me that this was an adventure of a lifetime, so I'm going. I am very fortunate to be on exchange in Singapore. With one day of classes a week (starting September) I have been able to take advantage of the cheap travel options to explore SE Asia. It has been quite an adventure. By far my most memorable experience to date was scuba diving in Boracay, Philippines only two days after sitting through Typhoon Ondoy. Traveling always remind me of how fortunate I am to be a Vancouverite. See you in the summer.

G'day from Downunder!!
Sydney was fabulous – and the University was good too. I recently finished up studying and Melissa and I have been on the road ever since. We've done a pretty good job of seeing a large part of Australia. Hilights include: Snorkeling in the outer Great Barrier Reef, driving the Great Ocean Road between Melbourne and Adelaide, and chasing kangaroos. We also spent reading break in New Zealand and I did my first bungy jump. What a way to end law school! That being said, I'm very much looking forward to returning to Faskens for my articles, and getting back into the swing of things. See you soon!

He handed me a Vegemite sandwich…
I've had a terrific time in Australia and I still can't believe how fast the five months have gone by. Our home base, Melbourne, is a vibrant city famous for the many little lanes that run through it, where you can find various cafés, restaurants, shops, pubs as well as hidden night clubs. It's very European.
In October, we took a break from school and travelled to Fiji for a 10 day island hopping trip. It was more beautiful than words can describe. A week later, we escaped once again to the picturesque "Red Centre". During this 4 day trek through the Outback we saw a canyon and various rock formations including Uluru, the big red rock featured on most postcards. We slept in swags (portable bedrolls) under the stars, which are by far more numerous in the southern hemisphere.
After writing our last exam in mid-November, we were off again. We rented a campervan to travel along the Great Ocean Road, a very scenic drive along the limestone cliffs of the South-East Coast of Australia. Following this, we flew north from Melbourne to Cairns to journey south along the East Coast of Australia, ending our trip in Sydney where I met up with my office buddy Tamar for an afternoon at the famous Bondi beach.
During this trip I discovered Australia's wildlife and varying climates: from the birds and crocodiles of the Daintree rainforest, to the beautiful tropical islands of the Whitsunday's, to the multicoloured fish and sea creatures of the Great Barrier Reef (I might have seen one of Nemo's relatives), and the list goes on. Along the way, I also discovered that I'm not a very good surfer.

The postcard is a little on the old side, but it is one of the few I could find picturing the campus of UCT (University of Cape Town). The building pictured here is right beside the law building! I'm not sure I've seen a prettier campus! The term here is over and I will be coming home to Vancouver soon. Hopefully I'll see you soon. Say hello to my fellow students.

I'm a little behind with my postcards. Tanger has come and gone for me. I'm about to leave Tetonan and head south to Chefchaouen. Hopefully I'll get a chance to trek up one of the mountains there.
While having coffee a few minutes ago, I was lucky enough to speak with a police officer here about, among other things, the law here. So far travels have been great. Hope your summers are going well and look forward to seeing you in the Fall.
