T.E.A.M. Work (Training, Education and Mentoring)
Training
We recognize that the best training is hands-on. As such, our students become fully engaged in files and enjoy interaction with our lawyers and clients from day one. Working with the firm's partners, associates and staff, you will be able to take advantage of an enormous range of experience, expertise and talent.
In addition, our formal Student Orientation Program ensures you have the necessary tools to assist you in achieving your true potential.
Articling students have the freedom to modify rotations during the articling term. This flexibility also allows you deeper involvement with the files that you are working on. Under the guidance of experienced lawyers and staff, you will improve your drafting, problem solving, negotiation and oral advocacy skills.
Education
Given that our summer program provides students with an external secondment opportunity, we have a limited amount of time to provide a formal educational program during the summer. However, this does not prevent us from ensuring you are learning valuable skills. From our comprehensive research training program to our Client Service Initiative, our students are provided with an experience that is guaranteed to exceed their expectations.
During the articling term, we conduct over 25 in-house student CLE seminars at which the firm's lawyers and other professionals discuss up-to-the-minute developments and practice tips across a wide range of practice areas.
Students are also free to attend the firm's regular CLE programs for our associate lawyers, as well as section meetings and practice group lunches.

Mentoring
While all members of the firm are available and expected to assist in the supervision and training of our students, your supervisors are directly responsible for providing guidance and ensuring the quality of your experience.
For the summer program, each student is assigned three supervisors. The supervisors range in seniority and are assigned based on the area(s) of practice interest you select for your summer program.
One supervisor, usually a member of the Student Committee, is your Designated Supervisor and is responsible for providing you with formal feedback on a regular basis. This feedback is in addition to the informal feedback and support you will receive from our lawyers in the course of your work, and the comments solicited from your secondment experience.
Each articling student is supervised by two lawyers. One will be your direct Principal and the other will be a member of the Student Development Committee. Together they will assist and support you during your articling term. They will discuss your progress and development with other members of the firm and provide you with helpful feedback on a regular basis.
As an articling student your performance will be evaluated and discussed with you on a monthly basis.
