John Elias has a broad-based banking & finance, corporate and M&A practice that has a particular focus on multi-jurisdictional financings and transactions. John regularly advises financial institutions as well as borrowers and project sponsors on multi-jurisdictional financings, including acquisition financings, mine financings and project financings. John's corporate and M&A practice includes advising on cross-border mergers & acquisitions, including private equity transactions, and international corporate finance transactions. Many of the recent financings and transactions John has advised on have involved parties or assets located in Canada as well as Europe, Africa and the US.
John joined Fasken Martineau as an articling student in 1987, became an associate in 1989 and a partner in 1995. John was based in the firm's London, U.K. office for over 10 years and is a former Managing Partner of that office.
