Alex Cameron Involved in Authoring New Book for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada 2008 Click here for the PDF version On May 23, 2008, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (“OPC”) launched a new book on the leading cases under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada’s federal private sector privacy law. The book is titled Leading by Example: Key Developments in the First Seven Years of PIPEDA. The OPC commissioned Alex Cameron of Fasken Martineau to author drafts of Leading by Example. Alex was the only outside counsel involved in the drafting of the book. This is a tremendous honour and is a recognition of Fasken Martineau's leading privacy law expertise. Unveiled at a three-day summit organized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, Leading by Example reviews key cases under PIPEDA in order to help businesses comply with the Act. “Hundreds of our findings and numerous judicial decisions together form an essential body of recommendations and case law,” says Assistant Commissioner Elizabeth Denham. “This new tool will help businesses comply with PIPEDA and improve their privacy practices.” Leading by Example is available from OPC online at www.privcom.gc.ca.
