Leslie Rose has been practising in the developing area of privacy law since its infancy in Canada and has been advising clients on privacy issues for over a decade. Leslie has considerable experience working with privacy laws throughout Canada and has made submissions to virtually all provincial governments and to the Federal government on proposed and existing privacy legislation. He frequently advises clients on privacy issues arising in the context of cross-border and international corporate transactions, and has particular experience with the issues arising in the context of the privacy of personal health information.
In his corporate commercial and M&A practice, Leslie has acted for many public companies and some of Canada's largest private corporations, their shareholders and for other high net worth individuals. He has significant experience in dealing with large accounting firms and pre-eminent U.S. law firms in a variety of corporate transactions and advising on the related securities and tax issues. He works closely with the Toronto office's Taxation and Wealth Management and Charities practice groups to implement estate plans, off-shore investments and innovative tax planning transactions. In addition, he is regularly consulted to advise the firm's litigation department in connection with significant corporate/commercial litigation.
Leslie joined the firm as an associate in 1975. He became a partner in 1980.
