Louis-François Hogue specializes in the area of securities law and corporate mergers and acquisitions. He is also recognized for his expertise in the biotechnology, information technology and intellectual property sectors as well as in the entertainment industry. He has acted as legal advisor in several public offerings, including those of Labopharm Inc., Lab Research Inc., Mediagrif Interactives Technologies Inc., Quebecor Inc., Addenda Capital Inc., Cossette Communication Group, Genomics One Corporation, Æterna Laboratories, Canam Manac inc., Gaz Métropolitain inc., Cascades inc., Société d'investissement Medvedent inc., Société d'investissement Lomedic inc., Theratechnologies Inc., Motion International Inc., and National Bank Financial group.
He has also represented the interests of other public companies in merger and acquisition and private equity transactions, including Quebecor Media, Keyrus S.A., Arius Research Inc., Victhom Human Bionics, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, S.I.T.Q. and Bell Business Solutions. In addition, he is asked to represent different brokerage firms in public financing matters, such as Merrill Lynch Inc., CIBC World Markets, HSBC and National Bank Financial Group.
He also acts regularly on behalf of different private companies in the entertainment, information technology and biotechnology.Mr. Hogue sits on various boards of directors, including those of Toutenkartoon Inc. and Danse Danse, in addition to belonging to the nomination committee for the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal's board of directors. In 2011, his ongoing involvement with the board of directors and executive committee of the Armand-Frappier Foundation, combined with his role as president of the Foundation's "Fête champêtre" earned him the honour of "Grand bâtisseur". For the past two years, he has participated in the Cyclo Défi event to combat cancer. In 2011, he personally raised $24,000 of the $240,000 raised by his team, placing him among the event's 10 highest participants.
Mr. Hogue was previously a member of the Magnétothèque campaign, a non-profit organization for people with visual impairments, as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He received the 2001 Leadership Award from the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (Québec Division) for his involvement with the Society.
