Associate
Marisa Victor is a litigation associate who practices administrative, civil and public law litigation, with emphasis on public law, regulatory, communication, intellectual property and employment matters. In the course of her practice, Marisa has appeared as counsel before the Ontario Court of Justice, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court of Canada and various administrative tribunals. She also volunteers for Pro Bono Law Ontario at the Ottawa Courthouse providing summary advice to self-represented litigants appearing before Ontario Courts.
In addition to her litigation work, Marisa has experience providing advice and advocacy services regarding regulatory law, national and international trade law, communications law, and intellectual property law, including trade-mark applications. She also holds a masters degree in environmental studies (MES) and maintains an interest in environmental issues, particularly, climate change policy and regulation.
Prior to joining the Ottawa office of Fasken Martineau in 2009, she acted as legal counsel to Commissioner Major at the Air India Inquiry giving her unique insights into, among other things, Canada's national security and intelligence systems, and the prosecution of terrorism offences.
Marisa articled with the National Judicial Institute in Ottawa, responsible for the delivery and coordination of judicial education in Canada.
Marisa is an active community volunteer and is conversant in French and Spanish.
