Several changes to the rules regarding how you file appeals to your property assessment will take effect in the 2009 tax year. The most important change is the new, and earlier, deadline for filing appeals to the Assessment Review Board: the deadline is March 31, 2009. The new deadline is not, however, the only change that must be considered when filing. Rules governing paralegals and owner representatives, and Assessment Review Board procedure have all changed, resulting in appeal and hearing processes which are more complex and courtlike.
