Norpak Handling settles dispute over installation of EDS system at Montreal airport

Client

Norpak Handling Ltd.

On May 1, 2009, Norpak Handling Ltd., a North American leader in the design and integration of material handling systems, and Logan Teleflex (UK) Ltd. settled lawsuits relating to the installation of an EDS system at Montreal’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport.

Earlier, Logan Teleflex (UK) Ltd. had sued Norpak Handling Ltd. claiming damages for additional costs associated with the installation of baggage handling conveyors and an explosion detection system room on the existing hold baggage screening system of Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport for its client, Aéroport de Montréal.

Norpak filed a counterclaim against Logan for the payment of outstanding invoices as well as extra costs incurred for the completion of the project. Logan denied all liability with regard to Norpak’s claim.

Gastier M.P. Inc., another Logal subcontractor, was also involved in the dispute.

Martin Sheehan and Jean-François Peyronard of Fasken Martineau acted for Norpak.
