Richard Lacoursière

Richard Lacoursière specializes in labour law. He acts for companies involved in all sectors of the economy, in particular trade, education, restoration, transportation and processing of products. His practice mainly involves applications for certification, the negotiation of collective agreements and grievance arbitration. His field of expertise also includes individual employment contracts, non-competition and confidentiality obligations and executive lay-offs, anti-scab investigations, training and personnel management policies, as well as motions relating to successor companies.

Mr. Lacoursière also appears on behalf of clients in proceedings relating to wrongful dismissal and dismissal without cause as well as in files involving extraordinary remedies, particularly injunctions. His practice also includes files with respect to human rights and consultation involving industrial relations and occupational health and safety. He has been actively involved in all proceedings associated with the labour conflict at distribution centres for the Société des alcools du Québec, and more specifically in two decisions handed down by the Superior Court of Québec relating to the application of anti-scab legislation. Mr. Lacoursière has successfully represented several companies with respect to injunctions involving labour disputes. He was the chief spokesperson in the negotiation and arbitration of the collective agreement with the City of Montréal blue collar workers.
