Counsel

Robert Shirriff practises corporate/commercial law, with emphasis on mining, corporate finance and securities law. Robert has over 45 years' experience in the field of commercial, corporate and mining law and is experienced in the negotiation of all manner of commercial arrangements and in the implementation of major corporate acquisitions, restructurings, mergers and financings.

Over the years he has been retained to give legal advice to such entities as: Stadium Corporation of Ontario Limited (the SkyDome), SkyDome Corporation, the Anglo American Group of Companies, Canron Inc., the De Beers Group of Companies, Duke Power Company, Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co., Limited, Minorco S.A., Minorco (U.S.A.) Limited, Molson Breweries, Monarch Resources Limited, Norfolk Southern Railway Company, Otis Canada Inc., Placer Dome Inc., The Power Authority of the State of New York, RBC Dominion Securities Inc., Rio Algom Limited, The Royal Trust Company, Rio Tinto PLC, The Toronto-Dominion Bank, and the Ontario Government as well as a number of other domestic and foreign corporations.

Robert was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1971. He is past Chairman of the Toronto office.
